We rarely get any snow even in winter, so when I started reading about a possible icy cold weather spell after Easter, with likely snowfall, I was extremely sceptical. After all, about a week earlier it was warm enough to be outdoors without a jacket… But the weather forecast was spot on, and I got […]
The new year started on a low key and it’s almost the end of its first month. Covid-19 is still disrupting our lives, and nature gives us the chance to distract ourselves. I find getting lost in little details very rewarding. It takes some practice to start noticing little details, but nature’s textures and patterns […]
That fine line between autumn and winter usually gets crossed in early December. One day foliage is showing off in all its glory, the next day it has been scattered around and covered with frost. Temperature drops and reminds us that winter is indeed coming.
After weeks of freezing cold and strong wind, February 28th gave us a short break from all that and it almost felt like spring. (The day after it actually snowed.) I am not much of a sea person but I decided to go for a walk on the seafront, in the Trieste neighbourhood of Barcola/Barkovlje, […]
Despite the strong wind (or maybe exactly because of the strong wind, our beloved Bora/Burja!) I had to go for a quick walk in the city centre. There is always something worth photographing, no matter how many times I’ve seen these places. You doen’t need to travel to exotic locations to see interesting subjects, you […]
The weather forecast announced a very likely snowfall for Monday, and I was very much looking forward to it. It was snowing as I travelled by bus to a location suitable for snowy scenes, but by the time I got there, the snowing ceased and also half way through my walk the thin dusting of […]
I could not end the year without taking a walk in my favourite places! Goodbye, 2017 – welcome 2018!
Yesterday was cold but sunny so I went for a much craved walk. Mount Nanos welcomed me with its cloudy cap on. I was hoping to find some frost but no such luck. At 9am it was probably too late, or simply not humid enough. I still enjoyed my walk and appreciated the leaves caught […]
Fog swallows everything and makes you feel in the middle of nowehere. The already silent landscape becomes almost eerie, and even familiar sounds can startle you. What is still visible stands out even more.
We got the first much awaited (at least by me!) snowfall of the year. An early morning walk to the woods provided the opportunity to capture some of its beauty. (roughly around 45.733370, 13.795344, municipality of Repentabor/Monrupino)
